Description:
One of the largest parks in Tokyo, located in the suburb of Hikarigaoka in the northwest Tokyo, has a history that most foreign visitors probably unaware of - it was originally left over land from a U.S. military base. For more than 20 years it was known as Grant Heights, and later the site was returned to the Japanese government in 1973 only to be redeveloped into a residential project. The land now serves a large and leafy park with a variety of sports facilities like tennis and basketball courts, a bird sanctuary, jogging and walking paths, jungle gyms, day camping and bbq areas and more.
