Founded in 1952 by the founder of the giant Bridgestone Corporation, Ishibashi Shojiro, the Bridgestone Museum of Art is dedicated to the collection and exhibition of works from Impressionism and other modern art to twentieth-century art, as well as ceramic works from Ancient Greece. All the great French Impressionist are exhibited here, together with many Egyptian and Greek antiquities. The core of the collection was actually the French art from the latter half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. All the big names are here - Renoir, Monet, Ingres, Matisse and Picasso.
