A branch of the National Science Museum, the Institute for Nature Study is a nature reserve in the heart of Tokyo which occupies 200,000 square meter of area with various original habitats of the Tokyo area such as forest, marsh and ponds. It is the only place left in Tokyo that is reminiscent of the former Musashino Plain. It is home to many different kinds of plant, insects, birds and other creatures.
