Situated on the north bank of the Yarra River, next to Federation Square, Birrarung Marr is a large and Melbourne's newest major park. Lies immediately to the south-east of the Melbourne’s Central Business District, the park owe its name to the Wurundjeri people who originally inhabited this area; Birrarung mean 'river of mists' and Marr refers to the 'river bank'. There are large areas of grass along with many trees and paths, while the river is nearby. A children's art center and gallery called ArtPlay is also located within the park, and on the outside wall of the building are silver touch panels featuring audio recordings of indigenous people telling their personal stories. Other features include the Angel sculpture, Speakers' Corner, and the Federation Bells.
