City: Riga

The Museum is in Jugla, near a lake of the same name, covering almost 87 hectares of forest area. It is one of the largest and oldest open-air museums in Europe. The Museum collects, documents and preserves the objects of folk building monuments of Latvian historical and ethnographical regions, dating from the 17th century to the beginning of 1930s. Apart from that, the museum also educates the society about the cultural heritage, work and daily life traditions and aesthetics of the people who lived in the territory of Latvia.
