City: New York
Description:

Nestled into the side of Lighthouse Hill in the Egbertville neighborhood of Staten Island, this peaceful retreat is home to one of the United States’ most extensive collections of Himalayan artifacts. Established in 1945, the Museum was founded by Jacques Marchais, a visionary American woman and an important collector and expert on Tibetan art. The buildings and gardens resemble a Tibetan mountain monastery and represent the first Himalayan style architecture built in the United States.
