The Church contains the mortal and tomb of St Francis Xavier, who was in year 1541 assign the task of spreading Christianity among the Portuguese people in the East. The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in Old Goa which was the Goa’s capital in the early days of Portuguese rule.
