Founded in 1993 as a facility to preserve the historical heritage of Edo-Tokyo, this fascinating museum displays artifacts and architecture, telling the story of history of Tokyo during the Edo period, and also serves as a projection onto the city and the living of the future. Permanent collection includes both replicated and original exhibits, as well as large scale models, faithful representations of their originals. Set in a stadium-sized expanse, a soaring replica of Nihonbashi separates Edo-Tokyo from modern Tokyo. Besides the regular exhibition halls, there are also the Audio-Visual Hall, Audio Visual Library and other facilities that make this museum a wonderful center where visitors can learn about the city's history and culture while having fun at the same time.
