City: Tokyo
Description:

The museum houses the private collection of Nezu Kaichiro, the industrialist and president of Tobu Railway, and is opened in 1941 at his private residence on this Aoyama site. Set in the beautiful traditional-style garden with pond and several tea houses, this museum holds a gorgeous collection of artifacts including a brilliant gallery of Chinese bronzes. Nezu Kaichiro's holdings of Japanese and other Asian pre-modern arts form the core of the museum collection. The collection also includes paintings of calligraphy, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and archaeological materials, as well as objects in lacquer, metal and wood. The biggest attraction, however, is the lush garden out back with beautiful trees and hidden tea houses.
