St. Mary's Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tokyo located in the Sekiguchi neighborhood of Bunkyo. Designed by the famous architect Kenzo Tange, this ultramodern church was completed in 1964 to replace the original wooden structure that was constructed in 1899 and destroyed during the air raids on Tokyo during World War II.
