One of Tokyo's lesser known temples, the Gokokuji is one of the few temples to survive the bombing of the World War II. This is a Shingon Buddhist temple that was established by the 5th shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, who dedicated it to his mother. It truly deserves far more recognition than it has been given.
