The Petersen Automotive Museum is one of the best automotive museums in Los Angeles, which focuses on collecting and preserving historic vehicles, and acquiring a great number of vehicles of all shapes, sizes, models and purposes. The museum is dedicated to the presentation of all sort of automobiles and their impact on American life and culture. With more than 300,000 square feet of exhibition area, it holds more than 150 rare and classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. The rest of the collection is kept in a vault. The ground floor displays a virtual history of the automobile in Los Angeles, complete with vintage cars and buildings. It also hosts year-round special exhibitions.
