City: Munich
Description:
Located to the north of the city center on Odeonsplatz, this is probably the most eye catching building, because its architecture departs dramatically from the rest of Munich's buildings. The church was built as thanks to God for the birth of Maximilian II Emanuel, the son of Wittelsbach ruler, Ferdinand Maria. It was built in Italian high-Baroque style, inspired by Sant'Andrea della Valle, designed by the Italian architect Agostino Barelli. The yellow coloring had much influence on Southern German Baroque architecture.
