This is a pedestrian street filled with street artists and musicians which serves as an entrance to the Old Port of Montreal. During the high tourist season, one can find restaurants on both sides of the street and it also hosts many street artists and kiosks. It was named after the French explorer Jacques Cartier, the first one to map the Gulf of St Lawrence and the shores of the St Lawrence River.
