The beautiful 41-hectare Fawkner Park is named after Melbourne's co-founder John Pascoe Fawkner and the layout of today remains similar to that of over 100 years ago, with pathways cutting through the park. The park provides recreational areas for teams playing cricket, soccer, softball, tennis, Australian Rules, Football, and rugby. Walkways lined with oaks, elms and Moreton Bay fig trees provide structure to the open fields. It is among the Melbourne's finest city parks and gardens.
