What initially was a historic royal palace and one of the official residences and the principal workplace of the President of Egypt, now serves as a history museum, featuring a great collection of weapons and medals including knives, guns and cannons. The upper floors of the museum, which once served as the living quarters of the royal family are now reserved for visiting foreign dignitaries. The lower floors contain the Arms Museum, the Silver Museum, the Presidential Gifts Museum and the Royal Family Museum.
