This is Australia's oldest continually functioning church and a reflection of the City of Parramatta. The cathedral was built over many years but the work commenced at the time of Governor Macquarie. Today, the cathedral complex houses a community of Christians who are proud of their history and their Anglican heritage. Some notable items in the cathedral include a pipe organ that was brought from England in 1862, a remarkable tapestry, a Geneva Bible dating from 1599 and a font given by the Maori people. There are also memorials to many pioneers of the district located around the walls.
