Built in 1881, Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple is the busiest and oldest temple of Little India. This Hindu temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. Built by Tamil laborers, the temple has a South Indian architectural style. The temple has undergone many renovations since it was founded. Inside the temple, there is a statue of goddess Kale standing on the corpse of her husband and wearing a necklace of human heads. The most distinguishing feature of the temple is the entrance tower with complicated carvings of Hindu deities.
