City: Istanbul

It’s a neo-Byzantine style fountain in the northern end of old hippodrome, built to commemorate the second anniversary of German Emperor Wilhelm II’s visit to Istanbul in 1898. The fountain was actually built in Germany and was founded in 1900 to its present location in pieces brought to Istanbul. The octagonal dome has eight marble columns and the interior is adorned with golden mosaics.
